.DISCUSSION...
It`s feeling quite a bit like fall out there today! Showers continue to push north today across the area with current KRGX radar showing showers along the Sierra of Mono county and around the Tahoe Basin. Mono and S Mineral counties today will have the best chances for thunderstorms today (10-30%), but an embedded thunderstorm or two around the Tahoe Basin isn`t out of the question, either. However, the limiting factor will be the persistent cloud cover we have today.
As the low pushes out of the area, we can expect the skies to clear more overnight tonight. HREF CAM guidance continues to differ on spatial coverage and timing for storms tomorrow. Clear skies, warmer temperatures, and model PWATs around 0.6" tomorrow bring higher forecaster confidence in afternoon storm development. The best areas will be in S Mineral and Mono counties, as well as in NE CA and N Washoe county, with a 10-20% chance. Storms that develop tomorrow (and today) will be capable of producing brief heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and gusty winds. For storms that do develop, it will likely be after 2 PM tomorrow. However, an upper-level jet tomorrow afternoon could do one of two things; either provide the forcing needed to get those storms developing, or inhibit said thunderstorm development.
Showers may linger Sunday, primarily out in the Basin and Range. Monday looks to be the driest day of the week before another surge of tropical moisture follows a similar track to the moisture from this week. There is increasing confidence in showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

.AVIATION...
Light showers continue for all terminals today, primarily along the Tahoe Basin. Showers will continue for KMMH as well, where there is a 10-30% chance for thunderstorms this afternoon. VFR conditions are expected for all terminals, but reductions to MVFR conditions remain possible due to brief heavy rainfall. Winds will continue to be light. Skies are expected to clear after midnight tonight, raising ceilings. Shower and storm chances return tomorrow with a 10-20% chance near KMMH.
