.SHORT TERM... (Rest of today through Wednesday) Issued at 1128 AM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

Sunny skies, comfortable temperatures and low dew points are all making for a great day so far across Middle TN. This is all made possible by two main factors: first, the high pressure centered over the midwest US and B) the two tropical systems off the Atlantic coast. Both factors are providing a bunch of subsidence (which is why we`re seeing all of the sun) and the northeast boundary layer flow (which is keeping dew points lower). Now, I don`t think all of Middle TN is going to keep the full sun all day. Hurricane Imelda, which is the closest of the two tropical systems to the mid-state, could provide enough moisture on the west side of it to increase cloud cover this afternoon and evening on the Plateau. I would even go so far as to say Cumberland County has a low chance (10-15%) of seeing a brief shower around sunset. However, shouldn`t be anything of great significance. Shy of that, the only other thing we`re mentioning in the short term is some patchy fog overnight.

.LONG TERM... (Wednesday Night through next Tuesday) Issued at 1128 AM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

As has been well-advertised, this quiet weather pattern looks like it`s going to continue for several more days as high pressure maintains its grip over the region. Temperatures will remain 5 to 8 degrees above seasonal averages, but with the lower dew points, it should continue to be a comfortable warmth.

Our next chance of rain is starting to look like Sunday or Monday. The NBM holds off ANY chance of rain until Monday (and that`s still only 15-20%), but there is some indication by some of our other extended models that a southern surge of moisture is becoming possible by the end of this weekend or the start of next week. The drought monitor from last Thursday didn`t get a chance to account for much of the rain we saw last week, so while it`ll probably improve a little with Thursday`s update, we`ll need some rain soon or drought conditions will persist.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1228 PM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

Largely VFR conditions across Middle TN this afternoon, with the exception of portions of the Plateau where some pockets of MVFR CIGs are developing. Current thinking is that the increased cloud cover should be limited to east of Nashville through the TAF period. NE winds are a little gusty this after (between 10-20 mph), but will calm after sunset.
