.SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/... Issued at 226 AM CDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Upper level trough persists from the western Great Lakes through the central plains. The convection which was over the area earlier in the evening has mostly ended across the forecast area. A frontal boundary was draped from northeast to southwest across the area. Low level moisture remains plentiful with stratus across most of the CWA. Some fog was beginning to develop.
Rest of tonight into Wednesday Night...Light surface winds and stratus building down will lead to some fog development. Some models are suggesting a few hours of dense fog and will need to monitor for the potential of an advisory as the overnight progresses. The upper level trough and surface front will continue to slow progress through the area today. Showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous as the day progresses into the afternoon and evening hours before diminishing and shifting east of the area during the overnight hours. Not expecting any severe storms, though heavy rain will accompany the storms. Plan on removing the flood advisory which ends as 12z as we are not expecting much of anything the remainder of the night. Cloud cover and precipitation will keep high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
Thursday...The trough should continue pushing through the remainder of the CWA on Thursday with any residual showers in the far eastern CWA ending. Clearing should take place from west to east as drier air moves into the area behind the trough. Highs are expected in the mid to upper 70s.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 226 AM CDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Generally dry conditions are expected through the remainder of the forecast period. Temperatures will gradually warm back into the low to mid 80s as upper ridging builds back into the area.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 1214 AM CDT Wed Sep 24 2025
For the 06z TAFS, indications are for stratus to continue building down and for some areas of fog to develop. For now have ceilings dropping down to 2-3 hundred feet and visibility 1-2 miles. CAMS are showing scattered convection mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours and will maintain prob30 group for that. Expecting mainly IFR conditions to continue.
