.DISCUSSION... Issued at 248 AM CDT Sun Sep 7 2025
Today and Tonight...A band of low stratus continues to make its way south through the region this morning. As this band exits/erodes across southern portions of the area after sunrise and daytime heating ensues, mostly clear skies will prevail across CWA through tonight. High pressure and a cooler drier airmass over the region will bring slightly below normal conditions to the area for this time of year. Look for highs this afternoon to struggle to climb out of the 80s, with overnight lows ranging from the middle 50s to around 60. /19/
Monday through the weekend...Not much to talk about in the mid and extended period. Quiet weather conditions with slightly below normal late summer conditions will exist across our forecast area Monday through Monday night thanks to north to northeast flow. The remainder of the extended period will remain generally quiet Tuesday through Thursday. Global guidance continues to show mid/upper level troughing beginning to slowly slide east across the area through Thursday evening. This will allow for ridging aloft to gradually build into the region from the west. Regarding the rain chances, portions of southeast MS could see a slight chance of scattered showers by Tuesday afternoon, with afternoon PoPs between 15-25%. Ridging aloft will continue across our CWA Friday with afternoon highs peaking into the low 90s areawide. Quiet conditions will persist through the weekend. /CR/

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1218 AM CDT Sun Sep 7 2025
A band of low stratus will sink south through the area during the overnight hours. This will result in a period of MVFR/IFR ceilings at most area TAF sites through early Sunday morning. As soon as this band clears a site, VFR flight categories will resume and persist through the remainder of this 06Z TAF forecast period. Winds will be from the north around 5 knots overnight, but will increase to around 10 mph by late morning, gusting to between 15-20 knots at times throughout the afternoon hours. /19/
