.DISCUSSION... Issued at 252 AM CDT Sat Sep 6 2025
The weather pattern above the US will start out with a long wave trough to the east with a weak ridge to the west. As time progresses, the trough should push eastward into the Atlantic Ocean with the ridge building and moving over the Plains by mid week. Northwest flow is expected above western Kansas through Tuesday then shift to the southwest behind the ridge mid week into late week as a trough of low pressure moves into the western United States.
Dry conditions are expected through Sunday with an increase in cloud cover Sunday morning into the remainder of the day. Winds will generally be from a southerly direction through this period with highs reaching into the 70s today and tomorrow. The only exception to this will be far western Kansas tomorrow where low 80s look to be reached. Lows will dip into the mid 50s tonight and around 60 degrees tomorrow night.
There will be a slight chance of precipitation Monday morning through Tuesday but most places look to remain dry. Uncertainty increases as we head into mid week. A few ensembles show additional shortwaves bringing additional chances of precipitation while others keep us dry. Future monitoring of the models will be need to see what comes to fruition. Nevertheless, southerly winds will continue through next week with partly cloudy skies. A warming pattern is expected next week with highs returning into the mid to upper 80s with lows in the 60s.

There is a MVFR stratus deck across a portion of the terminals this morning. This deck should erode as the day continues with VFR flight conditions expected for the rest of the TAF pd. Some mid level clouds cannot be ruled out for tomorrow, but further flight reductions in cigs are not expected at this time. Winds will be light and variable today. Stronger southerly winds of 10-15 kt are expected tomorrow with gusts around 20 kt through the daylight hours.
