.DISCUSSION... Issued at 205 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025
Another warm fall afternoon across the local area as temperatures climbed into the 80s along with a steady southeasterly breeze. High pressure remains across the center of the country aloft...with an area of low pressure across the desert southwest.
Expect the upper level ridge aloft to shift east over the next couple of days as the upper level low across the desert southwest shifts into the southern plains...allowing a weak upper level disturbance to brush the local area mid-week. While the current forecast remains dry...some of the ensemble members are trying to generate some very light precip across the area Tuesday PM-Wednesday, but more than likely this will only result in an increased amount of cloud cover over the period. Could also see temps dip a couple of degrees mid-week with slightly lower heights aloft and this variable cover, but temps will remain above normal and likely still in the 80s each afternoon.
The next slightly better chance for some measurable precip will come late in the week when an upper level trough crosses the Rockies and helps steer a cold front moves across the area Saturday. Again, this does not look like a major precip event or significant cool down late in the period, although should see some light showers across the area starting as early as Friday evening and continuing of and on across at least parts of the area through Sunday.
Other than the warm temperatures and mostly dry conditions, expect regular breezy afternoons as the local area will remain sandwiched between surface low pressure on the lee side of the Rockies and surface high pressure to the east. This will result in southerly flow across the area all week, with winds likely reaching 15-25 MPH each afternoon. Not overly windy by any means, but a bit breezy especially during the afternoon hours each day.
