- Temperatures will continue to remain much above average through Saturday, with highs in the 80s to near 90 expected each day. After a cold front tracks through the region Saturday night, temperatures drop to below average early next week.

- Dry conditions expected Thursday through Friday night. By the weekend, chances for precipitation increase following a frontal passage.

A weak disturbance crossing the area today, with a few showers and thunderstorms continuing this afternoon, mainly portions of southwest into south central Nebraska. Temperatures across western and north central Nebraska at 19Z ranged from 75 to 80. A trough of surface low pressure extended across the western Sandhills with light winds. A breezy south wind lingered in eastern portions of north central Nebraska.

Tonight, clear skies with a light south to southwest wind. Lows tonight will be mild in the 50s, which is 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

Thursday, an upper trough will deepen across Washington, Oregon and California, while upper ridging builds across the Central and Eastern U.S. This will bring much above normal high temperatures across western Nebraska around 15 degrees above normal. Highs expected to reach 85 to 90. Southerly winds 5 to 15 mph.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 248 PM CDT Wed Oct 1 2025

Friday into Saturday, the upper trough will advance across the Great Basin. This will lead to much above normal high temperatures from 85 to around 90 each day. A breezy south wind Friday. A lead shortwave trough will move into the Front Range on Saturday, with windy conditions across the southeastern half of the forecast area. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are expected. As the lead shortwave trough lifts quickly northeast across the area Saturday night, a strong cold front will move through, with chance to likely POPs for showers and thunderstorms. The highest POPS located across the northwest Sandhills. Behind the cold front, much cooler on Sunday, with highs from 60 to 70. Cooler in the upper 50s to low 60s Monday. Mainly dry Sunday, with better chances for showers returning Sunday night and Monday night, as a frontal boundary stalls out south of the area.

VFR conditions will prevail over the next 24 hours. Wind will remain light this evening out of the south to southeast around 5 to 10 kts, then become light and variable overnight. Winds will be out of the southeast around 5 kts in Thursday afternoon.
