.SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/... Issued at 211 PM MDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Quiet weather is expected through the short term as we see high pressure controlling the region through the period, keeping precipitation nil and temperatures back on the rise on Thursday. Benign conditions persist tonight, and with clear skies again another chance of some freezing conditions is possible, but at this time the bulk of this should be confined to the high terrain around the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges, with some cooler air perhaps as low as the adjacent valleys but at this time not widespread enough to warrant a freeze warning. Tomorrow we`ll see a warmup of around 5-10 degrees, with widespread temperatures back into the 70`s to 80`s. With how consistent models have been alongside the overall quiet weather, model spread is almost non-existent for our temperature ranges, with the difference between the 10th and 90th percentile on most highs only 2-3 degrees. An approaching trough to the north could allow for some light breezes Thursday night into Friday, but only an increase to gusts around 20-25 mph is expected.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 211 PM MDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Pretty benign weather to start the long term with an upper level ridge dominating conditions across the CWA. Dry conditions coupled with warming temperatures, 700mb temperatures in the 9 to 10C range, will bring a nice Friday and Saturday to the region. Expect surface temperatures to climb into the 70s west of I-25 and soar into the low to mid 80s east of the corridor, with the warmest temperature across the Nebraska Panhandle. Elsewhere, an upper level trough will sweep across Canada Friday and Saturday while a trough digs into southern California. The trough over California will begin to push into our neck of the woods this Sunday, increasing moisture and the threat of precipitation primarily across our western zones which will continue into Monday. This will also bring cooler temperatures back into the region by early next week. The northern system will compress the ridge, increasing the gradient and winds across the CWA. At the tail end of the long term, models are indicating a pretty stout trough moving into the West Coast, which could affect our weather for the latter part of next week into next weekend.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 1133 AM MDT Wed Sep 24 2025
VFR conditions will dominate the TAF period for all terminals across the CWA as skies remain relatively clear, which is evident on the latest VIS satellite imagery. This in addition to generally light and variable winds across the region, no aviation concerns are anticipated through tomorrow morning.
