.MESOSCALE UPDATE... Issued at 1017 AM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025
Warmer than normal temperatures and dry weather is expected again today. Ridging aloft to our west will combine with surface ridging across our CWA from the northeast to allow afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s. There were a few showers to our east this morning but they have dissipated and no measurable rain is expected in our CWA today. /22/

.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1108 PM CDT Thu Sep 11 2025
The upper-level weather pattern across the CONUS for the next several days will primarily feature an ridge overspreading our forecast area from the west. At the surface, high pressure centered over the eastern U.S. will reinforce dry flow into our region in the lower levels. Collectively, the dry and subsident pattern will result in temps pushing the mid to upper 90s - about 5-10 degrees warmer than normal for mid September.
No rain is in the forecast, so the late-summer hot and dry conditions will continue to stress vegetation in the region. Low-end fire weather concerns could develop if RH values drop below 30% over parts of the area. Otherwise, the drier conditions may actually make the weekend feel more pleasant than expected for mid-90s temps. /NF/
