.DISCUSSION... Issued at 152 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
A broad mid to upper level ridge entering the Great Plains today will be the main weather driver for us over the next several days. Warmer and drier conditions are anticipated as the ridge continues its eastward approach toward the area. High temperatures for today will range in the mid to upper 70s staying just a few degrees above normal for this time of year. For tomorrow morning, clear skies will allow temperatures to cool near the crossover temperature. This, coupled with calm winds will result in a few areas seeing some light, patchy fog. The most favorable areas will be to the east and south of I-35. As the ridge continues its approach, increasing mid- level heights will allow temperatures to continue to warm over the next few days. Highs for tomorrow are expected to stay mostly in the low 80s.
Going into the weekend, the mid to upper level ridge continues its track to the east allowing high temperatures to slowly increase as the ridge axis nears the area. Highs for the weekend are anticipated to stay around the low to mid 80s. A cutoff low forms over Baja California on the southwestern edge of the ridge and is then nudged back into the flow by a much stronger, mid to upper level low descending along the western Canada/US coast. The cutoff low is anticipated to stay to our west keeping us dry. Approaching mid- week, the other low descending along the western Canada/US coast begins to track to the east into the Pacific Northwest along the western edge of the ridge. This will aid in amplifying the ridge keeping its influence strong over the area even though it gradually tracks to the east. This will result in virtually non-existent precip chances through Wednesday. As far as temperatures, they will remain above seasonal averages with the mid to upper level ridging staying dominant. High temperatures are expected to range in the low to mid 80s for the first half of next week.
