.SHORT TERM... (This evening through Friday) Issued at 1249 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
Coolest readings since May for many areas of West Central Texas expected tonight. Surface high pressure will settle across the area and then shift into Central Texas by morning. This will allow for winds to become nearly calm and then shift around and become very light from the southeast by sunrise Friday morning. Dewpoints have dropped into the mid and upper 50s and this will combine with radiatonal cooling to allow overnight lows to drop into the mid 50s to lower 60s tonight, depending in part on soil moisture and evapotranspiration as well as topography.
Warming trend starts for Friday with temperatures rebounding into the upper 80s to around 90.

.LONG TERM... (Friday night through next Thursday) Issued at 108 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
A weak high pressure ridge develops for the remainder of this week, which will act to keep temperatures warm and dry. Then, the GFS and ECMWF both depict a low pressure developing across the southern end of California and Arizona. This system will weaken the higher pressure, but most of the rain will remain off to the west of our area through the weekend. By early next week, this low appears to weaken and move east towards the Plains. However, rain chances will still remain minimal through next week.
