.DISCUSSION... Issued at 132 PM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025
A dry air mass over the Northland today after a cold front earlier this morning has lead to near critical fire weather conditions low RH`s and gusty winds. These conditions are expected to continue into tomorrow, though winds will be slightly lower.
At the same time, a high pressure will settle over the Ohio River Valley and keep us sunny and dry for the first half of the week. The high pressure may slowly be pushed off to the east for the latter half of the week, with slight (~10%) chances for precipitation. Predictability of where/when precipitation may occur is low at this time. In this kind of blocking pattern, it is common that models try to break it too quickly, so there is a decent chance this high pressure hangs around into next weekend.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/... Issued at 1210 PM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025
VFR conditions expected over the TAF period. Elevated northwest winds will become variable tonight before increasing out of the southwest tomorrow to around 10 kts with gusts to 15 kts.

.MARINE /FOR NEAR SHORE WATERS OF WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR/... Issued at 132 PM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025
Winds out of the northwest continue across western Lake Superior. Winds over the lake are less than over land, though a rogue 20kt gust is possible along the North Shore through the afternoon. Winds decrease tonight and shift out of the southwest for Sunday, with wind gusts up to 25 kts possible up near Grand Portage. However, there is not enough confidence that conditions will be hazardous to small craft to issue a Small Craft Advisory. Otherwise, dry conditions continue for the rest of the weekend and into next week.
