.DISCUSSION... Issued at 232 AM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

No real changes to the pattern going forward, ridging still dominates at the sfc and aloft through the week and weekend. Temperatures remain above normal, in the mid to upper 80s, through late week then come down slightly to low to mid 80s through the weekend and into the start of next week. Winds remain out of the northeast. Patchy fog continues to be possible in the mornings along the river in Cape Girardeau.

Around the weekend the ridge begins to break down slightly thanks to a subtle shortwave over the northern Gulf coast. With the sfc high being centered over the Mid Atlantic, winds will turn southerly by Friday. The ridge further breaks down and shifts east and puts us into weak southwest flow aloft by Monday with a broad trof aloft over south central Canada. With moisture returning to the area, we could possibly see our first weak PoPs return to the forecast on Tuesday.
