.KEY MESSAGES...
- Temperatures slightly above mid September averages.
- Uncertain very low rain chances.

.SHORT TERM (THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT)...
A ridge of high pressure builds over Texas today and tomorrow keeping warm temperatures in the forecast with mainly rain-free conditions. A few showers or thunderstorms may sneak into the coastal plains late this afternoon as Gulf moisture moves into the area with low rain chances again tomorrow over the Rio Grande Plains. Mostly sunny skies today and Friday will allow for normal to slightly above normal highs from the upper 80s to low 90s over the southern Edwards Plateau and Hill Country with highs in the mid to upper 90s elsewhere. Lows range from the mid 60s to low 70s.
&&
.LONG TERM (SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY)...
Mid-level ridging continues over most of Texas Saturday with this ridge flattening, but remaining over South Central Texas, as a trough moves across the Central Plains Sunday into Monday. Additional waves pass to the north next week with possibly a shortwave passing closer to the area mid-week. While mainly rain- free conditions are expected some low rain chances are seen along the Rio Grande over the weekend and again Tuesday to Thursday, though most models keep rain south of the area next week. Surface wind remains from the southeast this weekend into next week aiding in continued slightly above normal high temperatures each day.

.AVIATION (18Z THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY)...
MVFR level stratus made it into the I-35 corridor but generally haven`t been concentrated enough to be listed as a BKN cig at the TAF sites. MVFR cigs are likely to develop from 1000 to 2500 ft again late tonight. A south boundary layer wind could develop a cig as early as 09Z, but the AUS and DRT sites may be delayed until around daybreak. Mostly light and variable winds could keep skies VFR overnight and make the height of the lowest clouds more difficult to predict. More definitive surface wind directions at DRT/SAT/SSF should help with pinpointing cig heights and timing.
