  across the region through early next week.

A generally quiet pattern will continue to begin the new week as
summer just won`t release its grip. Similar to Saturday, winds will
remain gusty (25-30 mph) in response a shortwave lifting into the
Plains. High pressure will be firmly in control, resulting in clear
to mostly clear skies. Daytime temperatures will climb into the
upper 80s to low 90s outside of the higher terrain. Overnight lows
will fall mainly into the 60s, with some 50s in the typical cool
spots of the higher terrain and northern Lea County. Expect a repeat
on Monday with dry conditions continuing.

High pressure begins to shift east midweek allowing a weak cold
front to approach northern portions of the area late Tuesday into
Wednesday. This boundary is not expected to bring significant
changes, but a few showers (10-20%) are possible mainly across SE NM
and the northern Permian Basin Tuesday night. Temperatures change
little with the airmass behind the front still fairly warm. Highs
will remain mostly in the 80s Wednesday which is still several
degrees above normal for early October.
Ridging builds back over the region late this week sending
temperatures back into the 90s with no precipitation expected.
