The forecast period starts out with a shortwave trough sliding
southeast across the region and an upper ridge in place over the
Rockies. Radar shows a few showers scattered showers between Norfolk
and Fairbury. There is a 15-20% chance of a few isolated showers and
thunderstorms for the rest of the afternoon into this evening. Late
this evening into tonight, thunderstorm chances increase (40-60%),
particularly for areas along and south of I-80. A few of these
storms may become strong with hail and gusty winds possible.
Precipitable water (Pwat) values currently range from around 1-1.4
inches. Expect (Pwat) values to increase to around 1.5 inches this
evening into tonight as a moisture plume brings additional moisture
to the area. With thunderstorm potential and higher Pwat values,
there is a potential for some localized flooding between late
tonight and Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning, showers and storms will gradually end west to east.
The ridge will shift east Tuesday and Wednesday. Dry conditions are
expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Afternoon high
temperatures will return to the 80s both days. Lows will be in the
50s and 60s.
Chances (15-30%) for a few storms return Wednesday evening through
Thursday morning for portions of the area as a weak shortwave
arrives. Rain chances clear out again in the afternoon. Thursday
through the weekend, the ridge will remain over the region with a
few shortwaves moving through it. Highs will generally be in the 80s
with lows in the 60s. Friday evening through the end of the weekend,
there will be periodic chances for showers and storms.

KOFK: VFR conditions persist through the forecast period. Winds
will stay breezy out of the south through around 03Z. There is a
15% chance of an isolated shower or storm in the area from
around 00-03Z; however, confidence in location related to the
terminal is low at this time. Any storm that does pop up will
cause a brief shifting of winds. South winds diminish to 5-10kts
after 03Z.
KOMA: VFR conditions prevail through the TAF period. Stout
south winds 15-20kts persist through around 00Z, decreasing to
10-15kts. There is a 15-20% chance of a few showers and storms
across portions of eastern Nebraska this evening into tonight.
Right now, the best chance for storms in the vicinity of the
terminal will be from 07-10Z.
KLNK: VFR conditions persist at the terminal through the
forecast period. Southerly winds 15-20kts will continue through
around 1am, decreasing to 5-10kts. A few showers toward JYR will
move southeast this afternoon, which shouldn`t cause any issues
with the terminal. The better chance for a few showers/storms
for KLNK will be around 07-10Z.
